The Dripping Springs High School baseball team struggled this season when it came to stringing wins together.

The Tigers’ best win streak was three in a row — as was their longest losing streak. The inconsistency of the season was consistent with having a team composed of mostly underclassmen with only a few upperclassmen. Key injuries did not help at all. In the end, the team broke even in league play (8-8) and managed an overall record of 14-15-2 for the season.

A split in the final series with Austin’s Anderson High School only added to the tie of wins and losses. The Tigers took the first game 3-1 but dropped the second 4-1.

The Tigers hit paydirt in the third inning when Ryland Mahoney led off with a walk and after an out was wild pitched to third where he scored on Landon Requard's single. Anderson tied it up in the fourth when a two-out single scored the runner that got on with an error. The fifth put the Tigers in good shape when Mahoney, Requard and Gavin Hoel walked to load the bases. Nick Tyndall was HBP to send in the first run, and Jack Tyndall singled in the next. Theo Howard got the only other hit of the night. Jaxon Conover had a strong seven-inning complete game, giving up 6H, 1R, 3W, 7K.

The second game would run the opposite course. The Tigers outhit the Trojans 11--7, but ended up losing the game. It would be a scoreless game until the sixth when Anderson exploded for four runs. The Tigers tried to make a comeback but could only score once. Travis Garrett singled and scored following singles by Brandon Mayes and Mason Ashlock. Getting hits were Garrett 3, Mayes 2, Ashlock 2, Adam Newbill, Carter Gardner 2B, Austin Wolf and Ian Robinson. Five pitchers were able to see action on the mound.

Price Donateillo 2IP, 0H, 1K; Josh Edwards 2IP, 1H, 2W; Austin Van Burkleo 1.2IP, 1H, 1W, 3K; Travis Mora .1IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER; Jaret Hoyle 1IP, 0H, 2W.
