Dripping Springs’ festive celebration of heritage and pioneer spirit is returning to the streets of its historic downtown this weekend.

Dripping Springs Founders Day will take place on and around Mercer Street from April 28 through 30. The largest city event of the year, Founds Day will celebrate the founding of the Dripping Springs community over a three-day span.

Locals and visitors look forward to the wide variety of festivities that are offered including the Mighty Thomas Carnival, delicious food, barbecue cook-off competitions, live music, and the more than 150 arts and craft booths and vendors that line-up along historic Mercer Street in additions to hundreds of barbecue cookoff teams with plenty of delicious fare available. The first day of the festival kicksoff on a Friday evening with a parade made up of the small businesses, organizations and schools of Dripping Springs as they ride through downtown on decorated floats. Afterwards, the Mighty Thomas Carnival is ready for the kids to enjoy and the booths and vendors set up for the parents to stroll by and shop.

On Saturday and Sunday, spend the day at the carnival, listen to live music and try all the different food options.

The festival is hosted by the city of Dripping Springs, as well as the Founders Day Commission, which includes representatives from different local organizations. The proceeds collected from the three-day event are contributed back to the community and benefit local nonprofit organizations, parks, churches, schools, youth groups and charities.
