City absorbs Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau

The Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau, formerly a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, has been adopted by the city of Dripping Springs as one of its over a dozen boards, committees and commissions.

The Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau, formerly a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, has been adopted by the city of Dripping Springs as one of its over a dozen boards, committees and commissions.

At the Dripping Springs City Council meeting on April 4, council members voted unanimously to acquire the bureau, following the retirement of its president and CEO, Pam Owens, at the end of last month. According to city documents, this acquisition will not only give the city access to DSVB’s financial accounts but will also give it full use of its marketing arm, Destination Dripping Springs, including its social media platforms, website and branding. The bureau will retain its board of directors, all of whom will be expected to receive training in order to sit on a city board.

The transition of the DSVB to a city board is, according to City Attorney Laura Mueller, expected to take place over a period of 90 days. Within that time period, ongoing contracts and agreements previously entered into by the bureau will be reviewed and revisited as seen fit by city staff. Ongoing projects, including the semiannual printing of the Dripping Springs Visitors Guide (a joint project with The Century News) and the re-establishment of the Dripping with Taste Trail will continue as planned.

The city will now be in charge of hiring a new Director of Tourism to run the DSVB. They have kept on Brand Manager Samantha Larghe, who started in the position last year.
