After going through the first half of district undefeated, Dripping Springs High School’s Lady Tigers stalled on a pair of 2-1 losses.
Fast-pitch softball outcomes depend on good pitching and defense with timely hitting. These last two games were missing the hitting element for the Lady Tigers.
Austin High School only allowed a single hit in their game, that being a homerun by Jai-Lynn Flores in the second inning. Austin would scratch back with a run in the third and fifth innings for the win. Jordan Cox started the game on the mound. 5IP, 8H, 2R, 2ER, 1W, 5K. Hailey Anderson pitched the last inning, striking out one.
The game with Bowie High School took eight innings to find a winner. Each team pushed across a run in the first, and it stayed that way until Bowie managed a run in the top of the eighth to give the Lady Tigers their second straight 2-1 loss. The Lady Tigers out-hit Bowie 6-5 but could not take advantage of the four Bowie errors. Taylor Anderson had two hits, as did Kate Tressler, including a double. Cox had a triple and Linan Scott added a single. H. Anderson pitched all eight innings, walking two and striking out ten.
This dropped them back into a tie in the district race with six games left to be played. At present, the Lady Tigers are 23-6, 6-2.
