The Dripping Springs High School Lady Tigers softball team competed in their third and final tourney at Brenham High School earlier this month.

Brenham has had a strong program over the years, and Dripping Springs went 4-2 with some close wins. From now on, they will take on District 26-6A opponents where the Lady Tigers are undefeated.

Their opener in the Brenham tourney was with Forney High School: a battle that lasted nine innings before the Lady Tigers could come up with four runs. These happened late in the bottom of the ninth after Forney broke loose for three in the top half. The final score was a win for DSHS: 10-9. Elianna Amato provided two of the nine hits, including a double. Jordan Cox tossed 3IP, 3H, 2R, 1ER, 5K; Jai-Lynn Flores was on the mound 6IP, 9H.

It was another big inning scoring with Midland Legacy High School where DS scored in each inning — including seven scores in the fourth inning. Midland had six in their half. Of the 13 hits, Taylor Anderson has three, Flores has three, Cox had two and Amato had a pair of doubles. The final was 14-7, Dripping Springs. Pitch: Cox 5IP, 7R, 1ER, 1W, 6K.

In a sharp turn of events, Lake Creek High School blanked DSHS with a total of eight runs to DSHS’ zero. Getting the five hits were Anderson, Amato 3B, Erika Kanetzky, Linan Scott and Kate Tressler. Pitch: Flores 7IP, 12H, 8R, 4ER, 3W, 1K.

Yoakum High School gave a good account, scoring one in the fourth inning, only to have the Lady Tigers eke out single runs in the sixth and seventh to win 2-1. Flores had two of the five hits. Cox pitched a complete game with 7IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 5W, 14K.

Against Rains High School, DSHS broke away from 3-1 deficit in the third inning with a six-run inning enroute to a 9-3 win. Cox had a double and homerun in her three hits, Tressler also had three and Anderson and Flores added two each. Cox took the mound with 5IP, 4H, 3R, 1ER, 3W, 7K.

In the final, DSHS matched up with one of the better 5A schools: Georgetown High School. The Eagles soared to an 8-0 lead before DSHS fought back to finish 5-8. Anderson and Tressler had two hits, and Cox hammered a homerun. Flores 5.1IP, 11H, 8R, 2W, 8K. Cox finished up with .2IP, 1K.

The lone district opponent was Johnson High School. Johnson opened with two, and DSHS got one. The third inning was productive with four scores, including Cox's two-run homer to right to make it 5-2. DSHS got a single run in the fifth inning which was key in the 6-5 win. Anderson added three hits. Pitch: Cox 5.2IP, 9H, 5R, 2ER, 3W, 7K. Haiden Anderson got to see some action after missing some games due to injury. She finished the game with 1.1IP, 1H, 1W.
