Dripping Springs High school softball had another strong showing as they went 5-1 in the Brittany Tuck tourney and notched another district win by downing Bowie High School 8-3.

Barbers Hill High School won the tourney with a 6-0 record, including a win over Dripping Springs. Georgetown High School also ended up with a 5-1 record. A win over Bowie kept the Lady Tigers undefeated in district play. The team continued to show great pitching and hitting — despite committing a few more errors than usual. This past weekend was spent playing in the Brenham tourney, home to another well-known softball program.

Results will be in the next edition.

Any time someone has an outdoor event in February, they are tempting the weather gods. The forecasts had some scary moments of weather possibilities, but the teams were blessed with good weather all through the tourney.

Dripping Springs opened with Sinton High School. Both teams scored a run in the first inning, but a three-run outburst in the third gave the Lady Tigers the impetus to win 4-2. Taylor Anderson led the 10-hit attack with three, including a double. Haiden Anderson and Jai-Lynn Flores added two. Flores had the complete game win. 6IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, 4K.

Next was Barbers Hill. They jumped off to a 5-0 lead after two at bats as they went on to down the Lady Tigers 8-3. The two Andersons and Flores got the three hits. Jordan Cox took the mound 2.2IP, 5H, 6R, 3ER, 1W, 2K. Flores relieved 2.1IP, 2H, 2R, 1ER, 4K.

On a cool Friday, the Lady Tigers opened with an 8-0 shutout of Brenham. Dripping Springs' big innings were three in the first and three more in the sixth. T. Anderson had three of the 11 hits. So did Flores, including a pair of homeruns. Flores toed the rubber with a 6IP, 2H, 3K performance.

Finishing off the final cool game of the day was a 6-3 win over Judson High School. Of the eight hits, Linan Scott provided three, including a homerun and double. Cox had two with a double. Ashtyn Owens had a homerun. Cox pitched 5IP, 4H, 3R, 2ER, 2W, 8K.

Boerne provided the next competition. They had pinned a loss on the Lady Tigers in the previous tourney. Would not happen this time. The Lady Tigers had a couple of two-run innings and made them stand up for a 4-3 victory. T. Anderson and Scott had two hits each. Flores was on the mound. 7IP, 9H, 3R, 3ER, 2W, 4K.

Cedar Park High School was the final game. An eightrun fifth inning blew open the 9-1 win. T. Anderson and Scott had two hits that included a triple. Cox on the mound. 5IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 8K.

It was back to district play. Bowie, the defending district champ, is usually in the thick of things when it comes to softball. Flores got the Lady Tigers off to a booming start with a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. Another threerun outburst in the fourth gave Dripping Springs all they needed in the 8-3 triumph. Of the 13 hits, T. Anderson 3, Erika Kanetzky 3, Flores 3 (HR) and Tressler 2. Pitch: Cox 3IP, 3H, 4K; Flores 4IP, 4H, 3R, 1ER, 2W, 1K.
