The Dripping Springs High School golf program is preparing for the district tournaments in a few weeks.
The Tigers chose to play most of their allowed tournaments in the fall, and the Lady Tigers chose the spring. Both are facing some very tough competition in Westlake and Lake Travis High Schools.
The varsity Tigers were able to get a 36-hole tourney hosted by Vandegrift High School, played at the Delaware Springs course. Jacob Gonzalez 8278=160; William Mangione 91-74=165; Carson Simpson 84-90=174; Lane Johnson 86-92=178; Braedon Shirley 87-95=182. Team totals: 339334=673. They also competed at the Shadowglen course: Allen Ferno 75, Simpson 80, Gonzalez 84, Shirley 84, Johnson 85, Mangione 88. Team 323.
The Lady Tigers took part in the Marble Falls High School tourney at the Hidden Falls course: Ashley Murphy 89, Paris Shirley 90, Daryl Dean 105, Micaela Contreras 110, Jordyn Gaston 114. Team: 394. They also competed at the Bastrop tourney held at Wolfdancer and Colovista (Shirley 91-91=182; Murphy 96100=196; Dean 102-97=199; Contreras 101-107=208; Gaston 113-109=222. Team 390395=785); the Hutto tournament at Star Ranch (Murphy 85, Shirley 93, Dean 98, Contreras 98, Gaston 109. Team 374); and at Lake Travis’ Lakepalooza (Shirley 95-82=177, Murphy 98-86=184, Dean 97-94=191, Contreras 106--89=195, Gaston 118-111=229. Team 396-351=747).
The JV boys competed in the Canyon Lake High School tourney at Landa Park: Logan Park 79, Beck Hembree 84, Towns Frasure 84, Grayson Buass 88, Elijah Slater 96. Team 335. They also competed in the Hutto tournament at Star Ranch: Buass 85, Frasure 89, Park 91, Slater 95, Cash Lawrence 100. Team 360.
