The Dripping Springs High School soccer teams are both in the mix for making the playoffs.
The Lady Tigers are just percentage points out of first place with Lake Travis High School. Lake Travis is 11-0-2, and they are just behind with a 10-0-2. They have one game remaining that should settle district, having mowed down their last four opponents: Austin (8-1), Bowie (4-0), Johnson (3-0) and Westlake (2-0) High Schools. These successes were in large thanks to Ellie Hodsden, who scored four times in the first game and three more in the second.
Meanwhile, the inexperienced Tigers started off district with early losses, but they worked their way back to third by defeating a couple of those losses. They trail Lake Travis and Bowie with a 6-5-1 record and are just ahead of Westlake (6-6-1). The Tigers lost to Bowie 5-0 before going on a three-game win streak. They took on Johnson High School, notching a 2-0 win. Akins High School was one of the teams to have defeated the Tigers, but this time, the Tigers came from behind to win 3-2. The next to fall was Westlake 3-1 with a strong defensive performance by the backline, including Nate Warner, Aidan Burgess, Canyon Shaw and Dylan Zahn.
Boys JV defeated Johnson 2-1. Westlake was a 0-0 tie. The boys ninthgrade team shutdown Johnson 2-0. Akins was swamped 5-0. Westlake won 2-0.
The regular season is over March 10, and playoffs after Spring Break.
