DSHS Soccer at midpoint in district

The two Dripping Springs High School soccer teams have reached their halfway point.

The two Dripping Springs High School soccer teams have reached their halfway point.

The Tigers have found District 26-6A to be much better from top to bottom than some of the other sports. At this point, the Tigers own a 4-8-2 season mark and 3-4-1 (sixth) in district.

The Tigers lost to Westlake High School 0-1.

York Merrill and Mason Russell scored the goals in the 2-2 tie with Del Valle High School. The JV also tied 2-2, but the freshmen lost 3-0. Lake Travis was able to score in the final 21 seconds to eke out the 2-1 win. Russell scored the lone goal.

It was back to winning with Anderson High School in a 2-0 shutout. York and Parker Johnson got the goals, and Russell collected both assists. Jonathan Juarez scored the lone goal in the JV's 2-1 loss. Reece Scheppler and Trenton Trotter scored the goals in the freshmen's 2-1 win.

The Tigers blanked Austin High School 5-0. Merrill had the big game with a hat trick (three goals) and two assists. Russell and Canyon Shaw had the other goals. Ramsey Zogaib, Aidan Burgess and Russell had the assists. Vance Krutikov had the lone goal in the JV 1-1 tie. The freshmen took their game 3-1 behind Scheppler (2) and Trotter's goals.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers have a 9-3-2 record and 6-0-2 (second) in district. It has been feast or famine in their last four games. Everyone fired blanks in the 0-0 tie with Lake Travis High School. Del Valle could not turn back the onslaught in their 9-1 loss. Anderson fought to another 0-0 tie. Austin High fell 8-1. Now, it is time to turn around and do it all over again.
