Swimming is one of those sports that gets dramatically tougher as the ranks go up.

Dripping Springs High School gave it their best shot, and the final result was that the girls 400 Freestyle Relay team — composed of Athena Turner, Macie McCurry, Anna Hoskovec and Laurel Hoskovec — earned a spot at the state meet. They placed sixth with a time of 3.34.23 and will be competing at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin on Feb. 17–18.

Other highlights of the Regional VII-6A Swim meet held in San Antonio were two school record setting performances in the 200 Freestyle Relay, both in the preliminary rounds. It was the third time for the boys relay of the year as the team of Wyatt Johnson, Gage Hembree, Jordan Ledbetter and Nolan Granger lowered their record to 1.29.04. The girls team of Turner, McCurry, A. Hoskovec and L. Hoskovec lowered the notch to 1.38.12.
