District play is underway for the Dripping Springs High School soccer teams and they are making their presence known.
Prior to district play, Dripping Springs cohosted a tourney with Lake Travis and Westlake High Schools. They called it the Austin Lakes Elite Showcase and invited top teams from around the state.
The Tigers found the going a little tough, despite initially defeating San Antonio’s Churchill High School 3-0. In the next two games, they were shutout by San Antonio’s Lee High School 5-0 and Houston’s MacArthur High School 1-0.
Bowie High School surprised the Tigers 2-0 in the season opener. Dripping Springs got their record back to 1-1 in district with a 2-0 win over Johnson High School. Nurmi scored the first goal and Russell drew the assist. Connor Knapp got on board with the second goal with an assist from Svoboda. Vance Krutikov scored the lone goal for the junior varsity team, and the JV game ended in a 1-1 tie. Gael Mendoza scored both goals in the 2-1 JV win over Johnson.
The Lady Tigers extended their district win streak to 30 and remained undefeated in district play. The latest wins were a 2-0 win over Bowie and a 5-0 triumph over Johnson. They took a commanding 4-0 lead at the half. Ellie Hodsden and Riley Sisson each had two goals and the other by Brooklyn Sparks. Assists were garnered by Chloe Fredenburg, Sisson and Alex Knutson.
